A New Spin On The Painter's Pyramid

by Chris     January 14, 2010

The makers of the very popular Painter's Pyramid are at it again with a spinoff called the Finishing Turntable. The Painter's Pyramid for those of you that don't know, is a simple but ingenious way to elevate your woodworking projects for finishing. The pyramid shape keeps your work piece stable, while the points do little to disturb your finish.

The Finishing Turntable as the name suggests, adds the ability to turn your workpiece for even easier finishing. With finishing, less handling usually means less problems and a better looking final result. There is also the added benefit of being able to now finish in a much smaller area then before. Instead of you having to move around your workpiece, you can relax and spin the workpiece.

Home Fixated has recently completed a review of the Finishing Turntable, and found it to be “simple to use”. When painting or staining by hand, they found that heavier objects were the most stable and less likely to shift. However when spray finishing weight was not an issue.

All in all the Finishing Turntable looks like a great idea, though the price might be a little high for some at $50.

Wood Werks & Blaklader Toughguy Pants Trade Up Program

by Chris     January 12, 2010

The Wood Werks store and Blaklader Workwear have teamed up to offer a killer Blaklader Toughguy Pants trade up program. From Jan 9th to the 17th you can get up to two pairs of Blaklader Toughguy pants for only $20 each. The regular price for these pants are $54.99, so this is a huge savings. Of course with prices this low, there is a catch. For every pair of pants you buy, Wood Werks asks that you donate a pair to your local Goodwill or shelter. The donation is a pretty simple thing to ask for such a great deal, so why not donate more then just two pairs of pants.

Oh and don't forget to buy some knee pads.

Thanks for such a great deal Wood Werks & Blaklader.

Bench Dog Bullnose Trim Gauge

Bench Dog Bullnose Trim Gauge

More and more these days people are moving away from square corner-bead in new construction. Instead, they are turning to a 3/4” rounded bullnose corner bead. This style adds a modern touch to the building, but at the same time has the feel of old Spanish-style missions. But how do you add trim to a rounded corner?

Twitter Giveaways

by Chris     January 07, 2010

Have I convinced you to use twitter yet? Probably not, but all the contests and giveaways that can be found on twitter might make it hard to pass up.

Just recently I won a 6 pack of Liquid Wrench sprays by answering a simple question during one of the Liquid Wrench giveaways, and in my last post I talked about the contest Craftsman is running. Liquid Wrench, like a number of other companies, has turned to Twitter to help get free/cheap advertising. One of the easiest ways to get your name out there is by running a simple contest and using peoples own tweets to spread the word. Right now, it seems Liquid Wrench is running the trivia contest once a day, and the chances of winning are pretty good.

I am not saying you have to use Twitter everyday, or even at all, but it is at least worth it to sign up so you can participate in the free giveaways.
