Campbell Hausfeld 2-1/2" Finish Nailer Review

Campbell Hausfeld 2-1/2" Finish Nailer Review

Back in May, I wrote about Campbell Hausfeld's new line of Pneumatic Nailers. Their goal was to produce a nail gun for your average Joe that could give results of a seasoned pro. To do this, they have added some interesting features to their model CHN70699 finish nailer which are not found in other nail guns. These features include: a built in laser, warning lights/sounds and even a stud finder. The CHN70699 can fire nails ranging in size from 1" up to 2-1/2" and uses standard angled 15 gauge finish nails. The operating pressure range is between 70 and 120 psi. I have found that running at around 100 psi works for most nail guns.

The packaging is the first thing we see when purchasing a new tool (unless we buy online), so it should look good, right? Such is not the case with the CHN70699. The packaging looks like something you would find in a toy store, with a (see inside) window and an extra details flap. Not the best first impression, but we can look past that.

Rockler Bench Cookies Are A Hit (Still Not Edible)

by Chris     July 27, 2009

One of the most talked about "tools" to come out of AWFS was the Rockler Bench Cookies. The Bench Cookies are Rockler's three dimensional version of the non-slip router mat. They bring your material off of the work table which allows for more routing possibilities, while the non slip grip keeps you safe.

Now that the weekend is over, we are starting to see some of the first user reviews. So far the consensus is that the Bench Cookies are a keeper and you might even want more then one set. Ralph from ConsultingWoodworker.com does a good job of testing their gripping strength. Testing them even when covered with a ton of saw dust. However, the grip does depend on the weight of your material and light objects might cause you some troubles.

Amazon Now Selling Ridgid Tools

by Chris     July 23, 2009

For a while now there have been a few 3rd party sellers on Amazon selling Ridgid products; but now Amazon itself has joined in on the fun. Now Home Depot is not your only option for buying Ridgid power tools. The prices do seem to be a bit higher then HD and they do not not have the complete line of Ridgid products, but if you do not have an HD in your area, Amazon might be your best bet.

Here comes the weird part. RidgidForum admin ProBrand says:

I can confirm that we aren't currently selling anything direct to Amazon.

So this might be the reason for the extra price markup. Amazon must be buying from a middle man.
