Video Tool Reviews

by Chris     October 13, 2008

I am always looking for ways to make Tool-Rank a better, simpler, cooler place to write and read about power tool reviews. The way the Internet is becoming more and more media oriented, it only makes since that I move in that direction as well.

So I am happy to add an option that allows users to add their own video tool reviews to Tool-Rank. All you have to do is upload your video to YouTube, and add it to your review. The next time you go to add a review you will see a text field, where you can enter the 11 digit Youtube video ID. The video ID is found in the URL of every YouTube video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJNvKjQHv8I

This addition was very simple to add, and might make it easier to explain certin aspects that might have otherwise been difficult. I will probably take advantage of this new feature myself.

Add your video tool reviews today

P.S. You can add videos to your old reviews by simply editing your review and adding the 11 digit video ID.

SandDevil - Hand sander using sanding belts

by Chris     October 07, 2008

What do you do when you need to hand sand something on the job? If you are like me you grab an extra sanding belt from your electric belt sander, cut a piece of wood to length and width,  and then try to get a tight fit inside your belt. For a while now I have been thinking of how I could improve upon this method.

The SandDevil is the answer to all of my complaints, and is actually exactly what I was thinking of building myself. It works in the same way as a normal electric belt sander to hold the paper; using a locking lever to expand the sander against the belt. The SandDevil can use a standard 3 x 21" belts, and provides easy access to flat, curved and angled surfaces, including hard to reach corners and edges.

Added this to my Christmas wish list :)

You can pick up the SandDevil at Amazon for just under $20. This is actually an even better deal then is looks because it comes with five 3 x 21" sanding belts (50, 80, 100, 120 & 150 grit)
