I dont know anything when it comes to block planes, or any plane for that matter, but I do know when something looks cool. This is one cool looking plane. I almost want to buy it just so I can show it off as fine art, but $280 is a little much for me to use it as a really nice paper weight.
For those of you that know your planes, here are the specs:
The contoured body is 7" long by 1-3/4" wide, and has a 12° bed angle. It is machined and surface ground to half our normal flatness and surface finish specifications; the sole and sides are flat and square to within +0.000" and -0.0015" over the entire surface. The A2 tool steel blade is 1-3/8" wide, 9/64" (0.140") thick and hardened to Rc60-62. The blade has a primary bevel of 23°, and a secondary bevel of 25°. The back of the blade is lapped flat within + or -0.0002" (two-tenths of a thousandth of an inch) in the working area of the blade.

The new combo kit features a 10.8V Compact Lithium-Ion Driver-Drill and 10.8V Compact Lithium-Ion Impact Driver, as well as a new 10.8V Flashlight. The combo kit also includes an ENERGY STAR rated battery charger, two Lithium-Ion batteries, and a metallic case.
The new compact 10.8-volt flashlight weights in at just over a half-pound (.55 lbs) and offers 540 minutes of continuous light on a single charge.

There has been a lot of buzz about Track Saws with both DeWalt, and Makita finally coming out with versions for the USA. But I bet many people don't know that you can turn just about any circular saw into a track saw for a fraction of the cost of a complete track saw package all with a kit from EurekaZone. After all, why should you have to buy another circular saw if you already own one, especially if it's a saw you really like? Who needs Festool when you can make a track saw with your own circular...
I have always looked at the Festool MFT (Multi-Function Table) as great little work table, but not practical for jobsite use. I just never liked the idea of having to carry it around on the jobsite along with all of my other tools. But Timothy Wilmots' modified MFTC (Multi-Function Tool Cart) looks like an ideal way to transport both the MFT and your tools.
We have seen circular saws used as table saw replacements with the Eurekazone tracksaw system, and now there is a new system from PUPS (Portable Universal Power Station) that can turn a circular saw to an accurate miter saw.
We have seen a couple of combination miter/table saws now enjoying freedom in the U.K., one from Bosch with a table mounted on top of a miter saw, and one from Makita that flips to transform. Now it is DeWalt's turn to join in on the fun with their very own flipping combination transformation miter/table saw.
