A few reviews are coming soon.

by Chris     July 28, 2008

I just want to update everyone and let you know that we have a few new tool reviews coming soon. These will be different then the normal reviews found in the reviews sections. These will be full indepth reviews including pictures from box opening, all the way to tool usage.

You can expect to see the Bosch PS40-2 Impactor and Ps20 Drill from the Giveaway contest. You will also get 2 reviews  for Final Cut products. One using their 10" saw blade, and another with their 12" abrasive disks.

We at Tool-Rank look forward to bringing you real world reviews, by using the products in the field. Therefore these reviews will take longer then a simple test run. We want to know, just as you, if the tools actually do what they say they can do.

BernzOmatic introduces recyclable fuel cylinder

by Chris     July 25, 2008

I am not one to get all googly over anything that is green. Even though the website is the color green, you wont find me living in a tree, or trying to save an endangered mosquito. Even still, I do try to recycle as much as possible.

Tell your Vise-Grip story and win big.

by Chris     July 21, 2008

And when I say big, I mean BIG. You can win a custom built Vise-Grip Chopper, or $25,000 cash. All you have to do is tell IRWIN VISE-GRIP your unique story on how you use your Vise-Grip.

For years, IRWIN has received hundreds of unsolicited stories from professional tradesmen, contractors and do-it-yourselfers about the unique ways they’ve used a VISE-GRIP product outside of its traditional use to solve various problems either in a pinch or as a permanent solution. The stories range from makeshift nut crackers and portable camera stands to temporary gear levers for dirt bikes and door handles.

From July 1 – Oct. 31, 2008, consumers can enter their VISE-GRIP stories at www.irwin.com/vise-grip. Entries must describe the way they used their VISE-GRIP in 100 words or less and can include a photo of the product in use. The contest entries will be judged from Nov. 1 – 15, 2008 to identify the top 50 stories. The story entries will be selected based on creativity, originality and how the story fits with the product theme. Consumers will have a chance to vote on the top entries to help select the winner from Nov. 16 – Dec. 19, 2008. The contest winner will be announced by Feb. 2009.

But that is not all; Irwin Vise-Grip also has a bunch of other prizes that you can win, without having a cool story to tell. Via a random drawing.

saw blade + sand paper = Final Cut

by Chris     July 19, 2008

Final Cut , is one of those "why didn't I think of that?" products. It is so simple, yet something every finish carpenter or woodworker should have. It is basically a piece of sandpaper attached to the side of a saw blade. Amazing... I know.

You have two choices when deciding what you want. You can buy a 10" Final Cut blade with the sand paper already attached, or you can buy the Final Cut sandpaper for your own 8 1/2" - 12" saw blade. You could probably even use it on a smaller blade, but you would have to cut it to size.

Check out the video below for a great explanation of how to use the Final Cut. One thing that really caught my eye was the fact that you can make fine adjustments after the main cut, by just using the sand paper.
